Qantas Australian Tourism AwardsThe Qantas Australian Tourism Awards (QATA) recognise and promote excellence in tourism. They are the pinnacle of achievement for the tourism industry across Australia.

Finalists are drawn from the State and Territory Tourism Awards winners (including the Tasmanian Tourism Awards) across 27 categories including attractions, tour and transport operators, accommodation, events and new tourism development.

The 2011 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards were announced at a Gala Dinner on 2 March 2012 at the Cairns Convention Centre. Congratulations to all Tasmanian finalists and winners. Read the press release here.

  • Museum of Old and New Art (MONA) won the prestigious award for best New Tourism Development in the country.
     
  • Saffire Freycinet confirmed its status as Australia’s most outstanding premium tourism product by winning best Luxury Accommodation.

  • The Old Woolstore Apartment Hotel in Hobart won the best Deluxe Accommodation category for the second year in a row, and third time in four years - confirming its position as one of Australia’s best independent Hotels. 

  • The Maria Island Walk won the Adventure Tourism category for the second time in four years - a welcome recognition of our growing global reputation for adventure and nature based tourism. 

  • Pure Tasmania won best Tourism Marketing - showcasing many of our iconic visitor experiences including Strahan Village, West Coast Wilderness Railway, Gordon River Cruises, Cradle Mountain Chateau, Freycinet Lodge and Henry Jones Art Hotel.
