Survey: December 2010 Sentiment
We had a terrific response to the December Quarter Sentiment Survey, with 339 operators responding. This represented a 20% increase in respondant compared to the October Survey.- A majority of businesses (56%) achieved greater or similar business for the December 2010 quarter than in 2009. This was an improvement on the October expectation of 46%.
- 43% of all businesses reported lower business
- Business of all types exceeded their October expectations for the December quarter
- Businesses remain concerned about future business levels which are becoming harder to forecast given the changes in booking trends and shortened lead times
- Operator comments on government focussed on marketing, resource allocation and consultation with industry
- Operator comments on the TICT concentrated on the need for TICT to continue to consult with industry and lobby strenuously on their behalf
- Operator comments on the industry called for greater co-operation within the industry
