Tourism Business in the Digital Age

The TICT was one of four industry organisations to receive funding from the Tasmanian Government to help businesses get ready for the digital economy and the NBN, from this we have developed the ‘Tourism Business in the Digital Age’ program to help tourism businesses develop online capabilities to engage with the digital environment.

Stage 1

Expressions of Interest have been sought from accredited tourism operators interested in partnering with the TICT for our ‘Tourism Businesses in the Digital Age’ program.

We will be partnering with up to 6 tourism operators or tourism groups to develop some unique test case solutions for their businesses that can then be promoted to the rest of the industry as examples of what can be achieved for tourism businesses in the digital economy. These test cases could be anything from upgrading your business website; introducing e-Marketing capabilities; developing a social media campaign; upgrading an existing website to e-Commerce capability; using smart applications to improve your product reach; introducing video conferencing facilities or setting up cloud computing; or simply some personally tailored training for you or your staff.

An independent reference group, made up by an experienced tourism operators and a specialist ICT expert, will review the submissions before we progress the test case ideas with selected operators.

The Tourism Industry Council Tasmania is currently accepting proposals to provide solutions to improve the skills of Tasmanian tourism operators in the digital age and capitalise on the opportunities available through the rollout of the National Broadband Network (NBN) in Tasmania.

If you are interested in submitting a proposal to deliver these services please download the expression of interest.

Stage 2

Once we have helped develop these test cases, other interested tourism operators will be able to choose from a range of TICT recommended partners who specialise in digital business solutions during the second stage of the project in 2012. We will then provide financial and other assistance from this program to adapt your own solution.
