The Weindorfer Trophy

In 2014, TICT Launched new branding for the Tasmanian Tourism Awards in honour of Gustav and Kate Weindorfer.

The Weindorfer’s settled in Tasmania in the early 1900’s and built a chalet at Cradle Mountain amongst the Eucalypt out of King Billy Pine called Waldheim. They were great hosts and care givers of visitors to the area and heavily promoted and lobbied the creation of a National Park for Cradle Mountain.

“This must be a National Park for the people for all time. It is magnificent, and people must know about it and enjoy it.” - Gustav Weindorfer

The Tasmanian Tourism Awards trophy has been designed and individually handmade by a revered Tasmanian Artist Tom Samek from King Killy Pine, inspired by Waldheim. This is the basis of the branding and logo of the Tasmanian Tourism Awards Program.
